The Broken Road
Cody West from a young age knew he was a psychic. And not just a normal psychic, but one that had actual power to do something more than read thoughts. He played around with his power and eventually is just became a part of him. Growing up nothing special happened, but as soon as he was old enough and left home he quickly learned how difficult it could be. Afraid to use his psychic powers in public he learned how to use a gun. He fell in love with any revolver he could get his hands on and practiced quick drawing it every chance he could.
He joined a group of scavengers that looted things from battlefields and abandoned buildings. In one of these buildings they stumbled upon a group of bandits that had just returned and Cody noticed that they had slaves with them. Immediately he started devising a plan the rescue the slaves, but he always came back to one conclusion in his rescue plan: He would have to kill the bandits. Having never killed before he swore to himself that it was for the greater good and this was a one time thing. Sneaking up as best he could he prepared to jump the bandits when everything suddenly got very calm and slow. Almost as if time was going slower to him.
Unconcerned he popped up from behind cover and began his assault on the bandits. Caught completely off guard the bandits were easily dealt with and the slaves freed. Somewhat in shock, he left with his scavenger group and they fled as fast as they can before any more bandits showed up. Cody left the scavenger group that night and started to wander. He eventually found himself near Tolkeen where he sought a teacher to help him learn more about his psychic abilities. He met a fellow human by the name of Clifton Banks who offered to teach him what he knew and didn’t ask for more than some chores around his home. Cody learned more through him than he ever did on his own and was extremely thankful to Mr. Banks. Cody asked if he could do anything to repay his kindness and the older man only replied “help Tolkeen in anyway you can”.
When the war between Tolkeen and the Coalition was at its worse, Cody helped many civilians escape and reach safety. He never fought in the war personally but considered himself a part of Tolkeen. After Tolkeen’s loss Cody returned to where he grew up and worked with the scavengers. He was happy to see most of them were still alive, including some of the slaves that he freed who joined the scavengers. He began help communities with whatever he could. This went by for several months and eventual he purchased a house and started to look for a wife. However; he soon found out that he had made an enemy of the bandit group in the area. Luckily he wasn’t at his house when they burned it and everything he owned to the ground, but they also murdered anyone who tried to stop them. Disgusted he swore to pursue justice in anyway he could. Cody started with the bandits in the area and showed them no mercy. His constant practice of quick drawing and the psychic training turned him into a very formidable Psi Slinger that normal bandits stood no chance against. He left his home area to wander and deliver justice in anyway he saw fit.
