The Broken Road
Vaugh doesn’t remember much of his life before he was captured and enslaved by the Splugorth. The little he remembers is living on the coast of Texas with his parents, the day that the slavers showed up his parents put him the closet in an attempt to save him. He remembers the screams of his parents and when the slavers pulled him out of the closet he saw no corpses. Life as a slave among the Splugorth was tough and full of hardships. Bigger than the other children his owner decided to put him in combat training. The harsh leader of the training camp went by the name of Damon Warner and in the camp he came across many different types of species. During the 14 years of training Vaugh had to do many things that he was not proud or happy about. during this training he was given the slave name Heliak replacing his given name. When they were tested against the other students you could not show any mercy and sometimes Damon ordered it to the death.
During this training he came to respect and admire the abilities of some of these species that he trained with, there were many times that Vaugh had to fight with wounds but he fought through the pain so that he could survive. When Vaugh got wounded he wasn’t allowed much time to heal before returning to training so his body is covered in scars. During his training he fought with a number of weapons ranging from rifles, pistols, and swords. After the 14 years of training Vaugh had to go through the painful and involuntary Maxi-Killer procedure. The thing boars root like things into his body as well as outside, wrapping its tendrils around the wearer’s limbs and his organs.
After becoming a Maxi-Killer Vaugh was put into a three man squad including him, a Tattooed Man Naroro, and the leader a Maxi-Man Thael. After being assigned to the team for the first time since he was captured and enslaved he was allowed to set foot on the soil of North America. While in his missions he was nearly killed so many times they started calling him Phoenix. During their travels towards the mission they were attacked by a feral dragon. Vaugh was ordered to attack the dragon head on when it landed.
Vaugh hit the dragon multiple times then the other two started to attack, Vaugh was able to dodge the dragon swipes for the first time being thankful for the enhanced abilities from his painful procedure. As Vaugh went in for another attack the dragon spun 360 and swatted Vaugh with it tail throwing him 20 feet away and slamming into a tree. At some point while Vaugh was slowly picking himself from the ground he noticed that Thael was on the ground on one knee wounded and going for one his tattoos a few feet from Vaugh. Naroro was still fighting the dragon and Vaugh saw the opportunity of a lifetime that brought a thought that he hadn’t thought of in a very long time freedom. Vaugh quietly came up behind Thael using his two swords took off Thael’s head. Naroro was still fighting the dragon and did not see what Vaugh did. As soon as his head hit the ground Vaugh was running at full sprint getting away from the battle.
Vaugh lived off the land has he traveled west, after about a month Vaugh came across a small village that a mercenary group was recruiting anyone that wanted to join to help Tolkeen win the soon to be war against the Coalition. After learning some of the facts about the Coalition, such as them killing D-bees, Vaugh decided to join the mercenary group. At which point they asked for his name, never wanting to hear or think about his slave name he decided on the name of Vaugh, but kept the name Phoenix as he would rise from the ashes once again.
Vaugh fought in the war since the beginning was with the mercenary group for the next one and a half years, fighting on multiple types of fights, ranging from small, large, and secret ones. Vaugh along with a number of his mercenary buddies including the leader left when Tolkeen decided to use demons to win the war. Vaugh had two reasons why he decided to leave. One its wrong to summon demons for the means of the war, two Vaugh had no idea if the demons summoned knew his old owner and would tell him where he was. Some of the mercenary’s like Vaugh went his own way, some stayed together and decided to get work else where.
Now he is alone again looking for a purpose and something greater than himself.
